Emotions in Motion with Yoga

How Yoga changes your life, starting the day you begin

As I started building my physical strength and working my way into more challenging poses, I began to feel stronger on the inside.  About a month after practicing yoga every single day, an increased sense of personal well-being, control and power creeped up on me.  

Executing difficult yoga poses built confidence in my own performance as it cultivated the belief in my ability to achieve whatever I set my mind to. I am the type of person who's never content even after achieving multiple goals. For me it's about the climb to see how far I can push myself. I am entirely grateful and appreciative of everything in my life which is expressed through my yoga practice. 

Yoga is beneficial for various reasons.  Here are my top 4 favorite reasons:

1.  It has a substantial impact on your mental health and wellbeing
    Yoga helps you remain calm, be present in the moment, and mindful. It teaches you to manage stress, anxiety, and maintain clarity even in challenging situations.  The deep breathing and concentration helps you feel more centered and ready to tackle anything that lies ahead.

      2.  Fight food cravings...hello weight loss!

      You burn fewer calories than traditional exercise but its regular practice is associated with mindful eating. You can still burn fat by practicing power yoga and vinyasa flow which are faster paced flows. Yoga transforms you from the inside out as you begin to see things in a new light. The awareness can help you slow down and make better choices when cravings strike.

      3.  Catch more and better Zzz's

      Yoga is a natural sleep aid that will help you unwind and chill just before bed. It helps elicit a relaxation resonse as it releases muscle tension and reduces stress. Google "yoga poses for better sleep" and you'll find several articles talking about this subject along with poses examples.

      4.  Boost your immune system

      Lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and life stress all lead to a weakened immune system. Stress leads to a breakdown in the body's ability to defend itself against bacteria and viruses. Yoga lowers stress hormones, strenghtens our physical body and nervous system as well as the microscopic systems not visible to the eye.

      So what are you waiting for?!  Grab a mat, some cute leggings and get your namaste on!
